Norway en route ...
We drove through the country and while en route we saw amazing views of the land. The roads follow the rivers and fjords. During our stay we had weather that changed from cloudy and rain to cloudless and sun filled skies.
On some photographs you can (vaguely) see the rain drops on the windscreen. Still the rain made all the views even more impressive because of the continues clouds rising and floating between the fjords and the mountains. Rain fed the countless waterfalls and fed all the trees, mosses and plants. We found this country to be very green and lush with flora. That is.... during summer time.
Eternal Snow
The average height of the mountains and fjord is anywhere between 0 and up to 1,500 meters. Clouds can hover around 1,000 meter (sometimes lower). Eternal snow can start at 1,000 meters as well. Wondering why we did not see trees and suddenly saw patches of snow made me realize that the roads had climbed over 1,000 meters and we were visiting a higher area of the province. It was amazing to notice that glaciers had shaped that higher part of the lands. The rocks were worn smooth and were more flat and rounded.
Fosse
The waterfalls (or 'fosse' in Norse) are impressive and usually have a long fall from the top of the mountains all the way down to its base. The movie 'Up' came to my mind as I saw a waterfall just like it (also in the gallery below). And not only once, but many times. I even wished I could place my house next to it and enjoy the view from there for ever. Fosse come in all size and lengths. The water that rages in those very big fosse are powerful and makes you feel humble. The amount of water that is raging on and on is amazing. The biggest one we saw was almost falling on the road we were driving on, spraying the car like a big shower and with is came a thundering howl from water hitting the rocks. The other impressive one was at the Buerbreen glacier. This one was hurtling down ragged rocks all the way down into the valley we hiked through.
